Porto Seco in Foz do Iguaçu registers an 86.25% increase in the volume of trucks in April

Managed by Multilog, the dry port benefited from the heated market in Paraguay, registering an increase in exports of cement, iron, fertilizers and automobiles. Due to the drought, the import of grain via road transport is also on the rise, as barges cannot move because of the low volume of water in the rivers. 

Multilog registered an increase of 86.25% in the volume of traffic at Porto Seco de Foz do Iguaçu in April. The growth percentage is compared to April 2020, when the volume was severely reduced by the beginning of the pandemic. The scenario is now different and exports were driven by the heated Paraguayan market, in particular civil construction, with demand for cement and iron, and agribusiness, with fertilizers. The export of vehicles and automotive parts has also been intense.

Imports are also on the rise between the two countries because the harvest was very good and, in addition, the barges cannot navigate due to the low volume of water in the rivers, so that grain production is basically transported through road transport. From January to April, 80,779 trucks passed through Porto Seco in Foz do Iguaçu.

Last year, a survey carried out by the Federal Revenue Service revealed that Porto Seco de Foz do Iguaçu, managed by Multilog, registered record growth rates in the last four months of 2020, consolidating itself as the largest in Latin America in terms of cargo volume.
