Logistics Player bets on innovation to circumvent crisis of 2020

Multilog has been a pioneer in applying measures that ensured the supply of essential goods to the population since the beginning of the pandemic.

The year 2020 has been a challenging one for the global economy, as it forced companies to rethink their business models due to the pandemic and, consequently, triggered the market recession. One of the largest logistics players in Brazil, Multilog, anticipated demands, presented innovations to the national segment and applied measures that ensured its full operation and the supply of essential goods to the population. As a result, the operator, who has been in business for 24 years and has over 20 units in Brazil, was able to fully meet the current needs of the market, maturing its services and new projects even further. "Despite the challenging scenario, we were able to promote the improvements that were planned, mature the projects recently implemented which are helping a lot during the pandemic, in addition to maintaining our base of collaborators and achieving the expected results", says the Commercial Director, Alexandre Heitmann. For the Multilog team, the possibility of serving clients with the necessary agility and flexibility was only possible because the company already had a structure prepared to offer several innovations to the segment. As a result, they precisely anticipated the needs of the current market. “Multilog was already reinventing itself. Thus, we do not need to rush to adapt, just a few adjustments were needed to meet the demands of clients”, the Director adds.

Among the main measures adopted, the player was a pioneer in offering an adequate structure for releasing cargo online. One of the points that also generated great innovation to the sector was quickly accomplishing customs clearance of essential cargo, making the process up to 75% faster. Adaptation became possible, since Multilog is one of the few operators in Brazil to have the Simplified Customs Transit Declaration (DTA-S). The basis of the innovations is also present in the digitization of processes through Multilog´s customer portal, called Genius.

For Alexandre, the service models adopted have already become a reality for the national segment and will be maintained even after the emergency situation passes. “This pandemic helped to strengthen innovation in our culture and showed us how we can still assist in different stages of client operations. Digitization, for example, is a point of no return. It is good for the client, for us, and for the process, since there it less bureaucracy and slowness”. Multilog has a history of resilience in the search for market evolution even in light of the commercial retraction. In recent years, in light of a national crisis, the player sought development by opening units in the states of São Paulo, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul. As a result, the number of employees and its capacity to operate in Brazil increased. “All this investment and strategy has been making a lot of sense. Even during this unusual time, we were able to look to the future and anticipate some practices that helped us in our evolution”, adds the Director. With such measures, the company believes that it will be possible to maintain growth targets. "We still have another semester ahead, with all these uncertainties in the market, but we are already prepared to deal with the challenges that lie ahead", he concludes.
